Koi Pond Filter systems - Evolution Aqua Nexus and Tempest filter systems

The Nexus filtration systems have revolutionised the way Koi Carp ponds are filtered.

The Nexus is a cleverly combined vortex, mechanical and biological filter in one compact unit creating an effective high-performance filtration system delivering superb water quality for ponds up to 34,000 litres (7500 UK Gallons). - 320 model or 18,160 litres (4000 gallons) - 220 model. The Eazypod is the smallest model in the range (shown right) at 23" high and diameter and yet will superbly filter Koi ponds of up to 1,500 gallons.

The Nexus is an integrated filtration system which provide Koi keepers with premium mechanical and biological performance at an affordable price and in one package.

Above is shown the new Nexus Eazy Vortex prefilter system which consists of a 316 stainless steel enclosure and specially adapted central exit pipe. In the new Nexus 220 and 320 models, this chamber now floats above the filter base so no dirt, blanketweed or other detritus can be trapped here. The Eazy chamber in both the 220 and 320 models now utilise the new Kaldnes K1 Micro media, which is substantially smaller than the normal K1 media. The central Eazy chamber has been redesigned with the new media in mind and now traps solids down to a much smaller particle size, thus improving mechanical filtration and water clarity.

The new prefilter is a sealed unit, complete with lid, so that the K1 Micro media it contains cannot escape. The prefilters now come complete with 25 litres of Kaldnes K1 Micro in the 320 model and 20 litres in the 220 model.

The Eazy prefilter features a pressurised air purge system so that the chamber can simply be backwashed and cleaned in minutes, with no media removal and minimum fuss. Static Kaldnes traps very fine solids exceptionally well and the Eazy prefilter stops fine solids which pass through the Vortex from entering the main Kaldnes bio chamber and water clarity is dramatically improved.

The Nexus Eazy is a standard part of the new Nexus 220 plus and 320 plus models but can also be ordered separately and retro fitted to many older 210 and 310 Nexus models.

The Nexus 220 and 320 gravity units also feature bypass ports and overflows so that should the inner Eazy chamber ever become blocked, water will still flow to the biological chamber so that the filter can operate as normal until backwashing can be completed.

The system works like this:-

• Sensors detect when the Eazy needs to be cleaned
• The control box automatically switches the pump off
• The water level in both chambers of the Nexus will equalise
• The inlet valve closes whilst at the same time air is diverted from the outer bio chamber to the Eazy chamber
• After the Eazy chamber has been cleaned, the waste valve is opened
• The Eazy chamber and Vortex is drained to waste and the inlet valve reopens for a final flush of the Eazy.
• The waste valve closes
• Air is switched back from the Eazy chamber to the bio chamber
• The water pump is switched back on

The Nexus returns to normal operating mode.

The picture above shows the all new Eazypod Filter in operation on one of our own ponds - suits ponds of up to 1,500 gallons.The Kaldnes 'moving bed process', is included with all Nexus and Eazypod models. This uniquely designed media provides amazing water quality, especially when it has reached full maturity. Kaldnes bio-media is maintenance-free, allowing the biomass to fully mature, which maximises its effectiveness and creates constant parameters.

Nexus filters are compact units which can be used in pump or gravity-fed applications. With a small footprint, they can be fitted into the smallest garden. For gravity fed systems, smaller excavation is required thus savings can be achieved when building your pond.

The highly-durable rotor-moulded unit with a thick wall construction makes the Nexus a sturdy robust unit designed to last. The Nexus plus models come complete with Kaldnes K plus and Kaldnes K1 Micro media, (80 Litres of K plus and 20 litres K1 Micro in the 220 plus and 100 Litres of K plus and 25 litres K1 Micro in the 320 plus), discharge valves, and all appropriate connection fittings. Both discharge valves are located together for easy access. 

The Eazy pod filter comes complete with Kaldnes K1 based pre filter and is suitable for Koi ponds up to 1,500 gallons (6810 litres) as a complete filter and can also be fitted as a skimmer pre filter and water polisher on larger ponds. The new Eazypod air gives you all the benefits of the Eazypod but for a tiny extra cost includes a 70 lpm air pump, airline, manifold and air stones - fantastic value for money!  

Automate your Nexus - Automation systems are available for the Nexus 210 and 220, 310 and 320 series, in fact any Nexus 200 or 300 series filter manufactured after 2006 can be upgraded and fully automated.

The Nexus Automatic system can easily be set up to perform multiple cleans of the Eazy during the cleaning cycle. Now you can safely go on holiday, and leave your Nexus unattended for weeks! This really is more technology designed to make our lives easier and ultimately, if your pond and filter are cleaner, the Koi will be healthier.
