The Japanese have been using this product for the treatment of serious infections in human patients which do not respond to antibiotics or other treatments, and especially in post operative care, and similar types of products are now being widely used to treat all kinds of human skin conditions. Variants are now being used by vets for livestock treatment where infected wounds will not heal and for internal post operative application to prevent wound infections.

Potassium Permanganate

1.5 - 2 grammes treats 220 gallons. Use at any temperature

Proflavine Hemisulphate is regarded as one of the koi wonder drugs.   It works systemically to eradicate bacterial infections, (internally as well as externally), and is the next best thing to antibiotic treatments.  May be used with salt over a seven day period - very good as a quarantine treatment also. Treatment may be repeated every 7 days over the course of a month.

4.5 grammes treats 1000 gallons. Use over 15.5 deg C (60 deg F).

Proflavine is absorbed over the gill and so enters the bloodstream  to fight internal infection. It is the chemical equivalent of an antibiotic and works very effectively on all strains of pathogenic bacteria.  Add salt to the pond water at 1/2 oz per gallon for best results, and repeat treatment weekly

Formalin is an aggressive  bactericide and when used in conjunction with Malachite Green (above) forms an effective parasite treatment.  Use as recommended by manufacturer. Should not be used with Salt at more than 1/2 oz per gallon. Use only with Malachite Green. Do not use under 12.5 deg C (54 deg F)

Warning - this chemical is extremely toxic. Never overdose this chemical.

Phonexytol is a recognised and safe anaesthetic for use with Koi.  Use to keep koi calm when topically treating, inspecting or taking skin scrapes.

Dose 5 - 10 ml per gallon.

Bactericide and Fungicide, used by the Japanese for years.  Helps reduce stress. Ideal quarantine treatment and gill wash.  May be repeated every seven days.  Can be used with salt at up to 1oz per gallon.  Can be used as a dip at up to 20gm per 220 gallons.

Propolis is produced by the honey Bee as a natural by-product of honey production.  Over the past 20 years or so International research has proven that Propolis can boost the immune system of animals (and humans) to prevent and fight infectious diseases.  Propolis has amazing anti-bacterial properties and it is also believed that bacteria are unable to develop immunity to Propolis and products based on propolis are now increasingly used in human health care products.

Propolis in liquid form is added to koi food and 250ml will treat up to 25kg.  Great for treating wounds round the mouth (including inside!) and the eyes of your koi, where other treatments would be dangerous to use.  Can even be used as a bath.  Sticks to wet mucus far better than ANYTHING available today - and that's a fact,  not a sales claim!  The research has shown that Propolis is effective against a range of bacteria, fungi and even viral infection, and it is known that Propolis stimulates the formation of antibodies to the immune system and is rich in vitamin A, B complex, E and flavenoids. (Foods containing flavenoids have been shown to reduce cell damage and disease in Humans)

Our Propolis is sold in its raw form, and is NOT diluted with unnecessary solvent, (with the exception of the spray form) so is very effective as a topical treatment and a little goes a long way. Please note that the spray variant is diluted in order to get it to atomise properly - in this form it is an ideal topical treatment where wounds have just started to heal, and helps avoid damage to new tissue formation.

Stress coat has been specifically designed to protect koi from harmful toxins in water and is ideal to use when quarantining new koi or for transportation to help overcome the stress associated with poor water or transit.  We use this marvellous product when transporting koi to our customers. Contains Aloe Vera to help sooth and protect the body and gills from many common irritants. Will also neutralise Chlorine and Chloramines in tap water and protect Koi from skin and gill damage in less than perfect water. This another product which does exactly what it says on the tin!.

We are delighted to be distributors of the world renowned Microbe lift products from Eco Laboratories in the USA.  These naturally cultured products all contain different blends of aerobic bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria (those that use light as a source of energy), anaerobic bacteria and chemosynthetic organisms.  Eco laboratories are the only company that have been able to culture these products, in house, and largely in the containers they are sold in. This is because the organisms only grow synergistically, representing a virtual ecosystem in a bottle.  These cultures coexist and flourish, and this is the way they work in your pond - together,  and this is also why the products have massive shelf lives - up to 5 years.

The level of water hardness is important in you Koi pond.  It is generally accepted that 'hard' water is better for Koi than soft 'water'. Hard water locks up any toxins in the water, helping prevent them from detrimentally affecting fish.  Hard water also helps the osmo regulation process employed by all fish to regulate fluid and mineral salt levels in the body.  This process is more difficult for Koi in soft water, and can put undue strain on the fishes kidneys.  It is therefore important to maintain water hardness at minimum levels, both in terms of KH, otherwise known as calcium hardness or Alkalinity and GH, general hardness, a measure of the total dissolved salts in the water.   In particular, a low KH in the pond can allow pH to fluctuate wildly and causes instability in water chemistry and can stress fish very quickly.  NT laboratories have now developed two special mineral products which can quickly help overcome soft water problems and increase both KH and GH to safe and recommended levels.

Dose is 50gm per 75 gallons of pond water to raise the KH/GH by 3 to 4 points.

In the slides pictured, the one on the right is unused, whilst the one on the left shows a high bacteria count after culturing at 30 deg C for 36 hours.

Clear Tech weed inhibitor marketed by Evolution Aqua is another safe way to rid your pond of blanket weed.  Not a chemical, but a treatment that affects calcium structure which blanket weed relies on to thrive, it also inhibits the spread of the spores.  We were very impressed with the results of this new product.  It works fast, and does not leave an unsightly mess of dead or decaying weed - its almost as though the dreaded weed just disappears without a trace.  Does not contain copper and is completely safe for all aquatic life including pond plants.  Recommended treatments monthly during the summer. May temporarily alter pond water pH

Dose 50gm per 1500 litres ( 680 gallons) of pond water. 1kg is sufficient for a single treatment of 6800 gallons of pond water (or for 3 month course for a 2200 gallon pond)
