As Koi keepers, we have always acknowledged that certain montmorillonite clays are necessary to replace the natural minerals lacking in koi ponds and lost by the filtration process. Most koi keepers are aware that koi in Japan are grown on in mud ponds and due to the mineral content of the clays they thrive and are able to develop to their full potential before being harvested.
Montmorillonite clay of the correct analysis is as essential as good quality food for the growth, development and health of your koi. Our clay is imported from South Africa and has been extensively tested and is now the only clay we recommend. After regular use of this product you should be able to dtermine that for example, skin lustre is improved, white skin becomes whiter, and the koi's appetite will increase.
Montmorillonite clay also aids digestion and helps to reduce solid waste products in the water. It is an ideal product to add to dampened food to ensure your koi can assimilate the clay efficently
When added to the water montmorillonite clay will cloud the water but this will clear after 4-8 hours. You should use one desert spoonful or 300 grammes per 1000 gallons weekly when water temperatures are above 55 deg F.
